Alabama man arrested for identity theft, theft of property

AUBURN, Ala. - On Aug. 28, 2025, Auburn Police, with assistance from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Dequavius Quendez Coleman, age 22, from Brundidge, Alabama, on felony warrants charging him with identity theft and theft of property first degree.

The arrest stems from Auburn Police receiving a report involving a forged check on Sept. 4, 2024. A complainant reported that a check was forged using information from an account associated with a business located in Auburn. The fraudulent check was deposited into a bank account by an unknown suspect.

After further investigation, Dequavius Quendez Coleman was developed as a suspect and arrest warrants were obtained in Oct. 2024. Coleman was located by Barbour County Sheriff’s Office deputies and arrested in obedience to the outstanding warrants connected to the Auburn case. Coleman also had outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions related to similar criminal activity.

On Aug. 28, 2025, Coleman was transported to the Auburn Police Department where the arrest warrants were executed. Coleman was transported to the Lee County Jail and held on a $10,000 bond.

All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
